Osteopathy is primarily a therapeutic art treating the whole body, which doesn’t require any previous approval of your treating doctor.
Osteopathy is a manual medicine. Its therapeutic purpose is to restore the therapeutic mobility and body functions. Its objective is to seek the causes of functional disorders, symptoms and pain. The method used is the palpation as a diagnosis and a treatment of these disorders in order to detect the position, quality and quantity of mobility (plus or less) tissue.
The osteopath’s role is therefore to test and correct mobility (quality / quantity) of different body structures (bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, organs, viscera, fasciae (connective tissue and membranes), cranial sutures, etc.
It also regulates fluids: blood, lymph and cerebrospinal fluid allowing improved metabolic exchange across systems and / or body parts. The osteopath is therefore able to treat the whole patient.
The human body is a very sophisticated solid and fragile machine. When all structures are working properly, the body is healthy. However the disruption of only one structure leads to disorders (diseases).
The human body is a sophisticated system of communication and control that regulates the whole and is "homeostasis" (ability to maintain the stability constants for physiological self-regulation of health).
When blood flows normally, disease cannot develop because blood conveys and transports all the elements necessary to ensure natural immunity.
Find the osteopathic lesion, repair and then let Nature do the rest.
(A. T. STILL).
Le corps humain est une machine très perfectionnée solide et fragile. Si toutes les structures fonctionnent correctement, le corps humain est en bonne santé ; il suffit qu’une seule structure soit perturbée pour que des troubles (maladies) apparaissent.

Osteopathy is suitable for everyone, from new borns to the elderly, through the childhood, adolescence, adult stage, for athletes, but also for pregnant women throughout pregnancy and after.
Its beneficial action, the preventive aspect but also its curative effect have their limits and Osteopathy can not cure everything.
Osteopathy interacts with other medical and para-medical disciplines: allopathic medicine, homeopathy, physiotherapy, Mezieres, podiatry, psychology / psychiatry, etc., helping order to find the solution the most adapted to well-being of the patient.
Sprains, strains, muscle tears, falls, tendonitis, joint pain, neck pain, bruxism, rib pain (breathing), back pain, lumbago, pain all post-traumatic (sports, accident highway (Whiplash injury), falls, moves), coccygeal pain, musculoskeletal disorders, capsulitis,…
Sciatica, neck-shoulder neuralgias, facial neuralgias (Arnold, trigeminal (V)), neuropathy, etc. Morton syndrome.
Stress, depression (in association with a doctor / psychotherapist), discomfort, anguish (distresses), anxiety, nervousness, melancholy, character disorders, sleep, food (bulimia / anorexia), etc.
Circulatory disorders of lower limbs ("heavy legs") and higher congestion, venous stasis, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, migraines, headaches, etc.
Gastric acidity, gastro-esophageal reflux, hernia, flatulence, bloating, digestive disorders, spastic colitis, abnormal transit (diarrhea, constipation, colic, alternating), liver or gallbladder disorders, etc. Rebalance of some organs which filter blood and air.
Preparation and supervision of pregnancy, childbirth, baby blues, back pain, pelvic, abdominal, postpartum treatment and supervision of perineal rehabilitation, incontinence, cystitis, functional disorders of the pelvis, pain sex, functional infertility etc. Scar (episiotomy / cesarean section).
Rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, asthma, tinnitus, vertigo, etc.
This system allows the human to maintain his position in motion or static. This may be disrupted as a whole or partly due to the disruption of one of its sensory input (eyes, inner ears, tongue and mandible, support podal). Wearing orthopedic shoes, heels, glasses, contact lenses, or even oral gutter can correct some disruptions. The osteopathic treatment can, in conjunction with those medical and para-medical disciplines, help to remove those disorders.
Osteopathy can be used in preparing for competitions and can significantly improve the performance and flexibility of the athlete through recovery exercises but also prevention through regular review (every 3 to 6 months). The osteopath can therefore treat sprains, tendinitis (tennis or golf elbow, Achilles, etc..), Muscle pain and trauma (contracture, hamstring, stretching, pubic pain, groin, etc..) Joints, scoliosis.
Scars : to improve recovery time after an abdominal or thoracic surgery (appendicitis, laparotomy, cardiovascular, etc.), orthopedic (reduction of fractures, total/partial hip prosthesis), oncology or surgery (room injection, resection), esthetic surgery, ...
Treatment of eczema, psoriasis, herpes zoster.
Osteopathy as any art therapy can not cure everything and do not propose to heal organic disease (cancer) or degenerative (multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis (SPA), Parkinson's, ...), genetic diseases (cystic fibrosis, myopathy), or infectious diseases or fractures and psychiatric diseases.
However, it does help monitoring the well-being of patients suffering from these diseases.
A consultation varies in between 30 min and 45 min (or 1 hour), it is divided into three parts :
After discussing the informations regarding vital statistics, the osteopath as a private investigator will interview the patient to understand the reasons that have lead the patient to consult. Furthermore he will discuss the patient’s medical history (trauma, surgical.) Then the osteopath will explain basics of osteopathy and interlinks between different areas: musculoskeletal, abdominal (organ / organs), cardio-pulmonary, gynecological, dental). The consultation will be supported by additional tests (radiology, ultrasound, blood test, urine, etc..) that the patient will be required to provide.
Then comes the medical examination that allows the osteopath to direct the consultation to a physician or a specialist if the reason for the consultation is outside the remit of Osteopathy.
The osteopathic examination is conducted with a series of palpation, mobility tests, and analysis of articular tissue, visceral, but also of density, rigidity, and responses from the tissues.
The osteopathic examination will diagnose specific osteopathic issues and will determine the most adapted process and techniques for each patient depending on symptoms, age morphology, sex, etc…
Osteopathy is recognized and considered as a medical practice in its own right. As such, it is subject to partial or full refund by the Mutuals only suject to the contract you have signed. You are advised to contact your mutual to know your package.
Osteopathy is not covered by Social Security. Do not hesitate to ask your osteopath for an invoice.
